SUV fatally strikes pedestrian in San Marcos
DUI was not suspected in the crash that killed a woman Friday night at Barham Drive and Mission Road
An SUV struck and fatally injured a pedestrian Friday night in San Marcos, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
It happened about 8:20 p.m. at Barham Drive and Mission Road, just west of Nordahl Road and south of state Route 78, San Diego sheriff’s Lt. Scott Roller said.
The victim was a woman, but no other details about her were immediately available, Roller said. She apparently stepped off a curb and into the path of the SUV.
She suffered major head and body trauma and died at the hospital.
Deputies evaluated the driver but determined he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Roller said. Speed also did not appear to be a factor, authorities said.
No other details about the crash were immediately available.
